The Halfway Point


Our adventure is halfway over. We are feeling extremely fortunate to have this opportunity and the many, many experiences we've had. As Dave pointed out earlier this week, any slice of this trip could qualify as 'a trip of a lifetime'.

Tonight we had our weekly dinner at the local pizzeria and talked over how things have gone so far.

What do you miss most (that's not human, because, obviously we miss people)?
   Dave- Our shower. And the grill.
   Ben- Michigan Tigers (Soccer team- we decided that this answer would qualify)
   Ethan- My V-Tech watch
   Lindsay- My bed. No, the washer and dryer.

What's your favorite thing about Italy?
   Dave- Taking Walks
   Ben- Playing Pokemon Go
   Ethan- Learning Italian
   Lindsay- Public transit has made daily life and tourism easy



What has surprised you the most?
   Dave- How friendly people have been to us
   Ben- Writing about the Loch Ness monster in Italian
   Ethan- Being able to eat with three missing teeth
   Lindsay- We haven't spent money as quickly as I expected

What's been your favorite restaurant?
   Dave- Al Borgo (our pizza place)
   Ben- Al Borgo
   Ethan- The Bubble Bar (Pier 88)
   Lindsay- Verde Rame in Piemonte

Your favorite meal?
   Dave- The two times we've been invited to dominica pranzo (traditional
       home-cooked Sunday lunch)
   Ben- Shrimp and pizza margherita
   Ethan- Pizza
   Lindsay- Gnocchi

What's your favorite site we've visited?
   Dave- Dolomites
Teatro Olimpico
   Ben- Prato della Valle
   Ethan- Dolomites
   Lindsay- Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza

What was your funniest moment?
   Dave- Jeremy (Tyler's brother-in-law) waking up with a second wind to
       start the party over Christmas
   Ben- Ethan tripping a lot
   Ethan- Ben jumping out and scaring me
   Lindsay- The boys getting stuck on the roof in Piemonte

Your worst moment?
   Dave- Losing patience and yelling at the kids
   Ben- Having an itchy head
   Ethan- Throwing up Christmas morning
   Lindsay- The two days I was home alone and felt like I ran out of things that had to be done

What are you most thankful for?
   Dave- Sabbatical
   Ben- Showers
   Ethan- Friends at school
   Lindsay- Dave speaking Italian and helping with every situation

What are you most looking forward to during the rest of our time here?
   Dave- Showing our friends around
   Ben- Coming back to Al Borgo
   Ethan- Our friends coming
   Lindsay- Our friends coming

Tomorrow is March 1! The parks will be open later in the evenings starting tomorrow. And our friends are coming!

  1. I like how Ben's funniest memory includes Ethan and Ethan's funniest memory includes Ben. Brother love!
    Also, Ben you should get that itchy head checked out. My Anatomy professor just told me a gross story about that.

    1. They are getting along well most of the time. I have some great photos from a few weekends ago on my good camera that I need to download.
      His head seems better now, luckily.
